Random IP Address Generator
Random IP generator helps you generate a dummy IP address. You can generate 1000 IP addresses in one go. It supports both IP versions - IPv4, IPv6, and a mix of both.
This bulk IP generation utility is a helpful addition for MAC Address Lookup users. You can generate IP addresses by type or fully randomly. Results can be copied and downloaded as JSON, CSV, and TXT.
How to Use Random IP Address Generator?
To generate a random IP address, open our IP address generator and follow the steps below:
- Select the IP version: IPv4, IPv6, or both. By default, Mixed is selected.
- Based on your version selection, select the IPv4 and IPv6 type you want to generate.
- For IPv4, you get to choose among:
- Any (Public Ranges)
- Private Class A (10.x.x.x)
- Private Class B (172.16-31.x.x)
- Private Class C (192.168.x.x)
- For IPv6, you can choose among:
- Any (Fully Random)
- Global Unicast (2000::/3)
- Unique Local (fd00::/8)
- Link-Local (fe80::/10)
- For IPv4, you get to choose among:
- Compress IPv6 output (if needed).
- Enter quantity, the number of IP addresses you want to generate. You can generate up to 1000 IP addresses in a single operation.
- After selecting the version and types, click ‘Generate IPs’.
- You will get the random IPs listed inside the results box.
- Copy or Download as JSON, CSV, or TXT.
How Our Random IP Generator Works?
Our Random IP generator creates IP addresses using random numbers and letters. It follows the rules of IPv4 and IPv6 to make sure every generated address has the correct format.
For IPv4, the tool creates four random number groups and joins them together. IPv4 addresses use a 32-bit format and appear as four decimal numbers separated by periods.
For IPv6, it creates random groups of letters and numbers in the correct IPv6 format. IPv6 addresses use a 128-bit format and are represented in hexadecimal with colons separating the fields.
If you choose a specific IP type, such as Private Class A or Global Unicast, the tool generates addresses only from that selected range. This helps you get the exact type of dummy IP addresses you need.

Use Cases of Random IP Addresses
- Software Testing: Developers often use a random IPv4 address to test APIs and applications that require an IP address input.
- Application Development: Use random IPs when building and testing networking features.
- Network Simulations: Create sample network environments for testing and demonstrations.
- Database Population: Generate sample IP data for development and testing databases.
- Documentation: Generate dummy IPs for guides, tutorials, and technical documentation.
- QA Testing: Test how applications handle different IP address formats and ranges.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a dummy IP address?
A dummy IP address, whether IPv4 or IPv6, is a string of numbers that mimics the format of a real IP address. They are generated by following the standard formatting rules defined for Internet Protocol addressing.
Unlike your actual public IP address, a dummy IP address is not linked to any device. It is typically used as sample data for testing, development, or documentation purposes.
How to Generate a Random IP address?
Use our IP address generator to generate a random IP address. You can generate from 1 IP address to 1,000 IPs in a single operation.
What Is the Difference Between a Random IP Address and My Public IP Address?
A random IP address is a computer-generated IP address used for testing and demonstration purposes. Your Public IP address is assigned by your internet provider and identifies the network on the internet.
Are the randomly generated IPs real?
Randomly generated IP addresses may or may not be real. The IP generator tool creates addresses by following the formatting rules for IPv4 and IPv6, from public, private, or IPv6 address ranges.
But it does not verify whether a generated address is currently in use. Some randomly generated IP addresses may fall within a publicly routable address range, while many may belong to private or reserved ranges.
Can I use a random IP address to hide my identity online?
No, a random IP address by itself cannot hide your identity online. When you connect to the internet, your device uses an IP address assigned by your ISP (internet service provider) or network.
If you simply generate a random IP address and try to use it, it usually will not work because that IP address does not belong to your device or network.
